God’s Will & Worry!
Matthew 6:27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?
Meditate on God’s Word! Today is a good day to focus on the words of Jesus about worry. “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? Matthew 6:28-30 Jesus taught us if God cares about the birds, the flowers and the grass of the field, so what is the answer to worry? So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Matthew 6:31-33
So if seeking God’s righteousness and His will is the key, how do we do this? There are two key things we can do to achieve freedom from worry and they are found in Paul’s letter to the church at Philippi. Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! 5 Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. 6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God,which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:4-7
So through rejoicing, prayer and thanksgiving we can find God’s peace. Then the next key is found in this same letter by accepting and being content in what happens to us in our lives and relying on Jesus’s strength. I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. 12 I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. 13 I can do all this through him who gives me strength. Philippians 4:11-13 Let God’s Word be your guide to finding the peace we all desire in life through accepting, praying and trusting in Jesus to give us the wisdom we need to follow God’s will.
